Smart carb is the only way to go IMO if you want a metering rod carb. The 36mm sc2 I have now is by far my favorite carb I have used to date. Between my 2018 and 2019 (both 300 xc's) I have tried Mikuni, Keihen pwk, Keihen with STIC, lectron HV, 38mm cast smart carb, and now this 36mm SC2. You're going to be thrilled with the bump in performance. It will feel like a whole different bike. It's well worth it and I was able to sell my stock 36 carb on eBay for over $200 so making the switch to the 38mm carb cost me somewhere around $35.
